TOUR ITINERARY

You will meet your guide and driver at 9 am at your hotel and leave for the mountain village of Tersak. Upon your arrival, you will settle in a guest house run by a retired French teacher. You will have lunch together and talk about the daily life in his village. He will also tell you how French is taught in school. In the afternoon, you will walk around Tersak and meet its inhabitants. Your guide will explain how a typical village in Uzbekistan works. You will also be able to watch the herds of cows or sheep returning in the evening. After a nice walk, you will return to your guesthouse and have dinner with the family.

After breakfast you will drive through the most beautiful pass of Uzbekistan and cross the Zerafshan mountains. This mountain range reaches 1 800 m (5 905 ft) above sea level and offers the chance to see the beautiful nature of the country. Some photo stops will be possible along the way. You will then arrive for lunch at the second village called Zerafshan. Here, the way of life is completely different and your host family will introduce you to their traditional cuisine, including the preparation of bread. You will be able to exchange easily with them during the meal thanks to the presence of your guide. After lunch, you will go for a walk and see a vacation home popular with the locals. In the late afternoon you will drive to Shahrisabz, known as the birthplace of Amir Timur (Tamerlane).

Early departure by car to the mountain village of Langar where you will make some stops to take beautiful photos of this part of the country. You will be able to admire beautiful canyons along the road before arriving at Langar, where you will have lunch. Once settled in your room (rural conditions, traditional mattress), you will leave for a walk through the village. This place is still preserved from tourism and has a breathtaking beauty, perfectly reflecting the rural life in Uzbekistan. You will discover a beautiful local pilgrimage site with an extraordinary view of the village. Return to the guest house and spend some time with the family or rest.

After breakfast, you will continue to discover the area and head to Boysun. One of the most beautiful regions of southern Uzbekistan is home to the Hissar mountain ranges. This region reflects a mix heritage and environment, i.e. both cultural and natural, including archaeological sites and mountain landscapes. On the way, you will make a short stop in the mountain village of Sayrob where you can admire thousand-year-old sycamore trees. Then you will have a beautiful walk through Boysun. Late arrival in Derbent and accommodation in a guesthouse.

Located at the crossroads of major road networks, the village of Derbent is a place worth a visit. Due to its mountainous location, the word derbent is translated from Persian as “closed gate”. According to some historical sources, it is here that Alexander the Great encountered difficulties in his military advance. That’s why this place is also called Iron Gate. You will discover the sights of the area like the healing springs, the red canyons and many other wonders. Back at the guesthouse, you will have some time to rest and enjoy the view from the courtyard.

After breakfast you will leave the village of Derbent and head for Shahrisabz. On the way, a stroll to the local market of Yakkabog (the only garden in the desert) will allow you to discover a wonderful and preserved place. All these stalls are filled with goods from all over the country. In the afternoon you will visit the birthplace of Amir Timur (Tamerlane) and its three historical sites. The ruins of the Ak-Saray Palace (White Palace) are evidence of fine architecture. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner will be followed by a walk to admire the illuminated sites of the city.

In the morning you will return to Samarkand through the Zerafshan mountain pass. It will be possible to make some stops as you wish to take pictures of the surrounding landscape. Upon arrival in Samarkand, you will be transferred to your hotel. We wish you an excellent onward journey.
